Invisalign treatment is popular not only for its nearly invisible clear aligners but also because it can mean quicker treatment times than traditional braces. Every Invisalign treatment begins with a detailed treatment plan. Still, your treatment plan may need slight adjustments along the way, which we call Invisalign Refinements.
Invisalign uses clear aligner trays to apply gentle pressure to your teeth. The custom-designed sets of aligners are switched out every week or two until you achieve the desired results.
With help from Invisalign's software, Dr. Zombek creates a precise plan, and a sequence of custom-designed aligner trays are created based on that plan. During your treatment, we continuously monitor the movement of your teeth and may adjust your plan by adding an additional set or sets of aligners based on our observations. These Invisalign refinement trays will keep your treatment on track.
We ask you to visit our office during your treatment for routine checkups. During these visits, we check to ensure your treatment is on track according to your plan. If everything is as it should be, we won’t make any adjustments. If your treatment is off-schedule, Invisalign refinements come in.
We make minor adjustments to your Invisalign aligner sequence so they fit and perform better. We may add a set of trays to give your teeth more time to move before the next step. We may also request that you visit us more often. These are some of the required refinements we may make to your Invisalign orthodontics treatment plan.
You may have Invisalign refinements before and after the expected end of your treatment plan. If we reach the expected end of your treatment but haven’t quite gotten the results we want, we may add another set of trays to get you to that final, perfect smile. Whenever possible, though, we prefer to make the Invisalign refinements during the predicted treatment period.
How many Invisalign refinements will you need? The number of refinements depends on how far off-track your treatment is. Rest assured, Zombek Orthodontics will make only the refinements necessary to get you to your perfect smile.
We often need Invisalign refinements when patients don't wear their aligners for the minimum 20 to 22 hours a day required for maximum movement. So make sure to follow our instructions! Your aligners should be removed only for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing.
It's also common to have to adjust a treatment plan because a patient needs treatment for cavities or gum disease. To avoid these pauses, practice great oral hygiene! If you need help, let us know!
Sometimes refinement is needed because a few stubborn teeth don’t move as quickly as expected. Unfortunately, you can’t avoid this if it happens. Don’t worry, though. We’ll adjust, and your treatment will continue until you have your perfect smile!
While others may charge extra, Zombek Orthodontics does not charge extra for Invisalign refinements because we consider them part of the Invisalign process. They are a part of your full, comprehensive treatment plan.
Invisalign is a proven treatment to straighten your teeth. Its clear aligners are nearly invisible, allowing you to get that perfect smile with hardly anyone noticing!
